ACCENT XL can produce the results similar to liposuction and SmartLipo. Unlike the lipo procedures, there are no incisions, the skin is not breached, so bleeding, bruising, and infection are not risks associated with our techniques. Also, the liposuction based procedures are geared towards removing fat only, and do not address muscle weakness and atrophy in the region or the slack skin that develops after you remove a large volume of fat.

The Accent XL procedure at BodyTrends in Oklahoma City involves laying on one of our tables. There are no incisions, the handle piece (UNIPOLAR) of the machines is passed and rotated in a circular motion over the region of concern at about 30 - 60 second intervals. Energy is passed to the fat layer, and you will feel the area gradually heat up. It feels like a steam towel is being placed over the area. We use an infra-red thermometer to indicate the temperature of the area of treatment. Before starting, it should be about 37 degrees centigrade. The goal is between 41 and 44 degrees centigrade during the passes. The elevated temperature induces the fat cells to open up and release the enclosed fat droplet. The fat droplet and particles are broken down and absorbed by the body's lymphatic system, which is the final elimination stage. This process takes a few weeks for completion.

The passes of the UNIPOLAR hand piece device is continued until a specific amount of energy (100 kJ) is imparted to the fat layer. How long this takes will vary among clients.

After this is completed a brief abdominal massage is performed to facilitate the delivery of the liberated fat droplets to the lymphatic system. When this is complete, The BIPOLAR hand piece device is passed over the region. Unlike the Unipolar hand piece which targets the deep fat layer underneath the skin, The BIPOLAR hand piece targets the undersurface of the skin layer. The transfer of energy to this layer initiates an inflammatory reaction which causes a reorganization of the collagen in this layer. This reorganization leads to a thickening and tightening of the skin, which is necessary to offset the space created by the elimination of the fat layer from the UNIPOLAR hand piece. This BIPOLAR feature is also used to improve and eliminate wrinkles in the face.
