Radiesse is a new injectable filler that is rapidly becoming popular in Oklahoma City. In OKC, Radiesse represents an estimated 20% of filler injections. Unlike Juvederm, which is HA-based, Radiesse is composed of Calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a carboxymethyl cellulose gel. Because of the presence of calcium and phosphate, normal elements in the human connective tissue, an immune reaction is not usually provoked with Radiesse. After injection, a thin collagen based film forms that rests permanently at the site of application. This means that after the body resorbs the Radiesse, a process which takes 12-18 months, a layer of collagen remains. This usually means less product will be required in those areas for future correction and enhancement.

Radiesse can be used to fill permanent static aging lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines. It is an excellent choice for cheek enhancement and facial volume correction. Radiesse cannot be used for lip enhancement.
